Jacqueline Marvucic
Director of Purchasing and Merchandising
Emerging Vision, Inc./Sterling Optical
Garden City, N.Y.

CHOSEN BECAUSE... “Her ability to interact with many different stakeholders and deal with their varying interests” “she shows great empathy, consideration and appreciation for her colleagues.”

Top 50 Women_JacquieJacqueline Marvucic’s ability to jump in and adapt to new challenges has served her well in her 10-year optical career. She began as a contact lens salesperson then became a retail store manager. From there, she worked in quality control and production for Marchon. This led her back to the retail side when she was recruited by Sterling Optical to install a more rigorous inventory control procedure. Her performance in that position led to her current role. She buys for 11 corporate stores and creates a 500-piece model inventory that Sterling franchisees can opt to adopt.

Marvucic says the knowledge she gained while working with product that enables her to buy quality product and keep her returns low. Having worked in stores, she also knows what customers want and what types of marketing plans will work best.

SHE SAYS... “Starting out, I never had any specific interest in optical. I believe that life directs you. My advice would be to fall into something and take advantage of the situation. Challenge yourself and do your best.”
